The Petrified Wedding, a unique rock formation near Kurdjali, Eastern Rhodope Mountain, Bulgaria. It's hard not to notice the resemblance to people walking in a wedding procession. You can see the groom and the bride in the bottom right-hand corner.

Geologically it was formed from deposited volcanic ash and rock fragments nearly 40 million years ago when the Eastern Rhodope Mountain was a sea bottom.
The local legend is very curious: According to local believes, when the wedding procession starts no one must look at the face of the bride because if one does look, he/she will turn to stone immediately. During a wedding procession the wind blew away the bride's veil and all wedding guests turned to stone.

This is a single 40-minutes exposure started after midnight. The star trails resulted from the spinning of the Earth. The Petrified Wedding is moonlit. Check out a more intimate composition of the same place: Fragment of The Petrified Wedding from the very same night.
